Tammy Russo-McCourt who was a clinical specialist here at ICON and is now a nurse educator at the U of MD Shock Trauma Center gave an excellent lecture on lung protection and fluid therapy. Tammy basically talked about where fluid can accumulate with ALI/ARDS and strategies to optimize vascular volume. The lecture focused on types of fluids used for resuscitation, conservative versus aggressive approaches to fluid management and how to best monitor and treat third spacing and vascular volume. I would encourage anybody to check out the MDCE when it is uploaded and encourage your co-workers and nursing staff to check the MDCE or any repeats of this presentation Tammy might offer in the future.

An MDCE is a member directed continuing education course. These courses are located in the continuing education section of our website and may be viewed at the learner's pace.
